Regrown
Straight comparison

How Regrown stacks up

Most blocker and recovery apps share a similar toolbox: domain blocking, streaks, some daily content. Here's exactly where Regrown differs, feature by feature, and where it doesn't.

FeatureRegrownTypical blocker app
Domain / content-level blocking YesYes, usually on-device or VPN-based
Requires a partner code to disable YesOnly a handful of apps in this category
Solo-mode cooldown if you have no partnerYes (48-72hr delay)Rare - most allow instant toggle-off
Check-ins reason over your actual logged data YesMost send generic scripted daily content
CBT-informed structured program YesVaries - some are pure blockers, no program
Discreet name and icon YesVaries widely
Urge logging tied to check-in content YesRare
Free tier available YesCommon
Screenshot / screen-content scanning NoOffered by a small number of apps

Note on screen-content scanning: a few competitors offer this. We're deliberately not launching with it - continuous screen monitoring is a meaningful privacy tradeoff and a much bigger technical undertaking, and we'd rather ship the accountability-lock and AI check-in mechanisms well first.

The honest bottom line

Blocking alone isn't the differentiator anymore

Most apps in this space can block a domain. The actual product is what happens in the moment someone tries to turn that blocking off, and what the check-in says to them afterward. That's where we spent the effort.
